To be more precise, after Passover.

Just had another seriously delicious knoblewurst sandwich at the flagship. And the knish was not too shabby either.

I was at 2nd ave deli about a week ago with my young son. a woman comes over to ask how everything was. My 4 year old who is eating the noodle soup says "this is the best broth I have ever had" the woman gets the bigest smile on her face and says I will be right back. She comes back with a plate of cookies for him.

there are often sounds of work coming from the inside when i walk by

walked by it yesterday afternoon around 3:30...did not seem to be any workmen there
all boarded and locked up.

That's a shame. I pass by the site on the bus after work so I couldn't tell that there is no work going on. It would be a welcome addition to the neighborhood (and I'm not even a fan of the Second Ave. Deli).

It may have been because it was a Jewish holiday.

Hmmm...think all the workmen are observant Jews?...somehow I doubt that.

No, but if the owner is observant, they won't permit work to be done during the holiday or on Shabbos.

Possible, but it doesnt seem likely considering that the deli itself is open on Saturdays.

The owners may be supervising construction and they don't work on holidays....I'm betting the temporary quiet this week was holiday related.
