need help close to Loews

i will be staying at the Loews in Nola next week and am searching for a casual restaurant in walking distance where i can get a poboy, bowl of gumbo and a beer for dinner. something with a decent bar.

    is ACME a good place for poboys and some gumbo too? or is it too touristy

      thanks for the suggestions. i think Grand Isle is just what i am looking for. i will hit Lucy's afterwards for a drink

        two nearby options that are a bit more blue collar (lunch only (or breakfast, but no dinner)):

        FredRick's
        312 St Charles Ave

        Commerce
        300 Camp St

          If Lucy's is packed, as is usually the case, head across the street to Vic's.

              Vic's is good for drinkin' not eatin'. Though they're Shepherd's Pie will do in a pinch.

          Lucy's Bar. You may run into Drew Brees. Gordon Biersch is a lot of fun too. You can watch the game at either.

              He's probably been there once...oh no wait he goes there before every homegame and throws down...ya thats it.

                He went there once after the victory parade. That's when the "it's Brees's favorite bar" chatter began.
