Date Night

monica1980 Sep 30, 2010 09:35 AM

It has been a long time since me and my husband had date night. With 3 kids we have very little money and time. We are very tired of going to the same chain resturants. Looking for something in the maplewood area. Any ideas?

I really enjoy Cave Vin for a date night. Nice neigborhood French Bistro fair. Good wine list. Plus you can get in and out and catch a movie.

Guessing the OP will want to stiay on the east side rather than drive to Edina.

I also support Acqua. If you venture into St. Paul, however, I'd recommend the wine bar at Heartland.

Acqua Restaurant in White Bear Lake might work. The space is great, albeit very small. Very cozy, definitely romantic. Everything I've tried has been excellent, especially the braised pork shank....absolutely delicious. There's also a beet salad that's off the charts good. They've got a $30 3-course tasting menu available daily...both of the above were part of it the last time I dined there.

Acqua is an underrated little (key word) spot. They are putting out excellent food in an area where there really isn't anything else noteworthy.

Depending on what part of Maplewood they are coming from, I would put in a +1 for Acqua.

Would you consider driving to St. Paul? I think The Strip Club is a nice atmosphere for a date night, and it's right off of 94....
