I agree with Su Chang's. I had a work event there a couple of years ago and my expectations were low. I pretty much will only get suan la chow show at Mary Chung's in Cambridge, after a couple of pathetic attempts to find it elsewhere (I'm looking at you, Shanghai Village in Arlington). They had it on the menu at Su Chang's, I took a chance, and it wasn't bad at all, definitely hit the spot until I could get to Cambridge again. The rest of the menu is good-quality suburban Chinese, the suan la chow show was an unexpected bonus.

Another place I might try if I'm near that end of Rt. 114 is Tennessee's BBQ. The pulled pork burrito and smoked wings are very good.

We ended up going to Sugar Cane. The fried Calamari App was incredible. Really excellent.
The pho was only so-so, much better at specialized Pho Restaurants.
Dumplings had nice outers but inners were very dense, not much flavor.
        Crab rangoons were ehhh...
        Spring Rolls were nice.
Few people got Vietnamese Salads and really enjoyed them.
        Decor/waiter/etc all excellent.

I only get two things at Sugar Cane. Their 'vermicelli'(bun) are excellent, and if you ask for the dinner specials.
Bun Rieu (they crack an egg into theirs) is always on it...

Su Chang's is actually on Lowell Street not Main Street, it becomes Main St. once you cross through Peabody Square. Also, I'm pretty sure Rosie's Bakery has recently been replaced by another bakery. A good, greasy breakfast is Deb's Diner in Salem not far from the Peabody line.

          1. Champion's Pub on Foster St for steak/lamb tips and some of the best onion rings around. Brodie's Pub in the center of town at the rotary is a close second for tips.
