I heard it was a lot better than the biggest mac and cheese!

Well, it's out-of-season and, therefore, illegal but all things with the Saints get a dispensation. besides, it was Haydel's....

Yeah, I was curious as to why they did it when they did. Seems like mardi gras would be a better time.

Well most people won;t know the difference, outside NOLA (and even here more and more people cheat...we should enforce this). But otherwise I think they were trying to get some publicity in case the season does not go as hoped..less interest in January if things ain't going well. (I sat in Tulane Stadium in the late 1960's..I can say this stuff)

I would imagine that they are quite busy during carnival getting out all the regular orders, so it probably was easiest for them to do it out of the king cake season

do people order a lot of king cake right after twelfth night? we dont. technically in season, but not super busy i would have thought.

That's when they start selling them, so I would imagine thyey would be too busy to build the world's largest kingcake at that time. It was just a guess on my part.

Sadly, since WalMart bakeries started cranking out king cakes, you can find them nearly year-round. Red, white, & blue for July 4th, etc. The scary part about the out-of-season king cakes at WalMart? They still include a plastic baby Jesus. Sigh...

This is actionable! Haul 'em into court!

Someone on nola.com said they walked over at lunch and it was delicious.
