Is Table 1280 worth a visit?

This is my second business trip to Atlanta. I have been planning my dinners (for myself and a coworker) . Right now we have reservations at JCT Kitchen, Woodfire Grill and Table 1280. I picked Table 1280 because I liked the chef's style when I saw her on Top Chef. Is the restaurant any good? Or am I better off at Canoe?

I can't go crazy moneywize since I am on my company's dime -- $51 a day for food. My other choices are: Spice market, Serpas, or Rathbuns’s.

You could do very well for yourself on $51 at Cakes & Ale in Decatur. Hubby and I just spent $58 on an amazing meal with 2 apps, beer for one and 2 great entrees. We were floored.

you cant do Rathbuns for $51,plus i think its WAY overrated, and quite pretentuos.I like Woodfire, and if you just want very good Italian food for a good price consider Alfredos off Clairmont-Its a time warp, taking you back to the 60s,but its been there foreverYou could do Priccis for 100 w/o drinks, but you can spend more right,it just comes out of your pocket

If you can't do Rathbun's for $51, I highly doubt that you can put together a full meal at Woodfire for less. And I'd throw the "overrated and pretentious" assertion in that direction too.

I had to go look it up to refresh my memory, but I remembered there was one bad review of Table 1280. John Kessler went there this summer (http://blogs.ajc.com/food-and-more/20...).

I haven't been either there or Spice Market, but I'm surprised that they've survived the down economy thus far (ditto for Craft).

The chef from Top Chef is no longer at Table 1280 (I believe, they announced Gary Mennie is coming over), which might be a good thing rather than bad. That said, there are probably better options right now - Serpas or Ecco maybe. I'm not personally a fan of Rathbuns or Spice Market.

Other options assuming you want to stay fairly close to Midtown - Bocado, Miller Union, La Pietra.

Avoid Rathbun's. Been several times and have been underwhelmed every time. Food is overly salted and the location is extremely loud.

I would give Floataway Cafe a shot. It's owned by the same people that run Bacchanalia but is much lower in price while still very good. Another rec is Sotto Sotto. Very good Italian.

If I think of more, I will post them.
