there has been quite a few threads on this topic.. Batali is still part of it but hardly competes anymore.. The last time he competed was the white house battle.. I think it's more scheduling conflicts for him, at least that's what I remember him saying in an interview..

Who's being replaced or is Nephew Chairman adding to his stable?

I get the impression that the Next Iron Chef series exists for its own sake. Filling a slot in the ICA lineup is more of an excuse than a reason for staging NIC. It's some thing they will stage every couple of years regardless of what happens to the Iron Chefs.
