What age range are we talking about?
Blue Wave restaurant closed several months ago and the spot has been taken over by the Bull and Bear. Basically a bar that attracts the local (LJ) heavy drinkers and smokers with awful bar food. The view and location however, are fantastic. Steer clear.
The Catamaran is a large hotel in Pacific Beach on Mission Blvd. Its back end is right on the bay with great views and outdoor space. I've been to some well done parties there, but food wise it is a throw away destination.
The Shores restaurant is actually in The La Jolla Shores Hotel (formerly named The Sea Lodge) next door to the LJ Beach & Tennis Club. It has a really large, fairly formal dining room right on the LJ Shores boardwalk overlooking the water. As part of the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club family, along with The Marine Room, it boasts some really solid food and catering. The food is overseen by Bernard Guillas of The Marine Room, and they have a fantastic Wine Director - Lisa Redwine (yes, that's her real name). They also can set up a party right on the beach in front of the hotel.

re: foodiechick
age range is 28-35 year olds. would prefer to find a late night scene place that could also accomodate us for dinner. location is del mar to coronado, although hillcrest area or place with a view would be preferable. i've already been shot down for my regulars (starlite, cucina urbana, urban solace) but maybe there's someplace i'm overlooking
