40th wedding anniversary - need ideas!

Hi,

I'm trying to plan a special wedding anniversary for my parents. I am looking for a fun, unique, and not overly expensive (maybe 50 - 100/head) place to celebrate. There will be 7 adults and 2 toddlers. A private room would be great, or a family friendly restaurant.

I was thinking of planning a Chinese Banquet and after searching the board for a bit, it seemed like maybe Congee Village was a good call?

I also thought that Peking Duck House could be good.

It could be lunch or dinner.

Any other ideas? The goal is uniqe, fun, good food.

Thanks for your help!

I imagine my post on Congee Village (or Congee Bowery) was one of the earlier ones you saw. I threw my mom's 60th there and it was perfect. Food was good, price was right and they were very accomodating.

If the $50 - 100/per person is too low - we can go higher - maybe that will open the field a bit.

That's quite a lot for a Cantonese banquet, certainly at Congee Village. Do you intend to purchase very expensive seafood items? Around $35-40 a head is close to the upper limit, otherwise. My favorite Cantonese banquet restaurant in Manhattan is South China Garden, 22 Elizabeth St. I don't think you'll get a private room there; check to see whether Congee Village has a 10-person private room, and what their deposit and minimum would be for a private room.

South China Garden has a private room upstairs.

I once did a birthday party there for somebody, before the name change, for about 12-15 people.
