Where is your current favorite dessert?

  1. The root beer float with sassafras ice cream and warm chocolate-chip cookies at Michael Mina's restaurants -- for example, Stonehill Tavern in Dana Point. Everything homemade, of course.

    It brings together the favorite sweet flavors of my youth -- chocolate and root beer -- in a sophisticated way. (At least that's what I tell myself.)

    1. the black forest cake at cafe del rey.

      this is not your standard wedge-shaped slice of cake.
      it is somewhat deconstructed.
      divine WARM chocolate cake made with top quality chocolate
      cherries NOT from a can, NOT overcooked, and NOT too alcoholic. FRESH cherries, pitted, prepared perfectly
      two small scoops of vanill bean ice cream
      sprinkles of CRISPY chocolate flakes on top

      the combination of flavors, textures, and temperatures is simply divine.

        That dessert does sound divine (esp. after a dud of an experience with clafouti at the Foundry).

        Is that dessert still available given that cherries are no longer in season?

        black sesame ice cream at musha (especially when it's 113 GD degrees outside.

        1. The classic CC Brown hot fudge sundae at Lawry's.

          1. Jean Pierre's Floating Island at Cafe des Artistes in Hollywood.

              All things considered, I would prefer one bite of the Apple Pan's Banana cream pie to about 3 bites of any other dessert. That one bite just does it for me.
