Foraging

I just started getting into foraging and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on good locales for finding persimmons or walnuts in the austin area?

Not for this year, but perhaps for next spring/summer. I have somewhat reliably found dewberries, loquats, and mulberries along Shoal creek. I also learned this year that redbud blossoms are edible, and taste and look lovely in a salad. Finally, keep an eye out for wild purslane, as it seems to grow in just about every neighborhood in town. No sightings of walnuts or persimmons, though.

No, but some of my neighbors in Travis Heights grow nice basil, rosemary, thyme, and sage bushes.

When I used to live in Round Rock almost every other house had some kind of fruit tree (including a guava one).
