Eating in Nottingham

Just found out we'll be in Nottingham in 2011. I know, it's early. But any thoughts? I know about Sat Bains, and have briefly cruised the city's website r/t restaurants (The menu at ARchie's looks good.) How about breakfast? Any spots known for a good English breakfast, preferably near the main campus of Nottingham/Trent?

Oh, good. I was hoping for breakfast spots. Hotel breakfasts are mostly not my idea of fun unless you're at a fancy-schmancy spot in Asia. Thanks much. I don't set much store by TA's restaurant reviews, but I've used their hotel stuff with fair success.

the cross keys on the corner of byard lane and fletcher gate does a great breakfast, which is served all day from 8.30 onwards. very convenient. also, delilah, near enough next door does a good version too.

Reigniting this thread. Taking my (gastronomically adventurous) son up to the university tomorrow for open day and need a nice dinner (Sat Bains reserved for when he actually gets in!) World Service and Iberico both fully booked. Any other ideas?

We were very happy with Loch Fyne and fairly satisfied w/ Iguanas. And there's a Turish restaurant, Antalya, 54 Upper Parliament Street, that pleased everyone in our large group. And a note - maybe it was because it was graduation week, but most places were quite busy; we found that calling ahead, even 30 minutes before we wanted to eat, was wise.

Ended up in Anoki, a rather good Indian, Michelin listed. Lamb haandi came still on the bone and all the better for it with a satisfyingly thick and aromatic gravy; grilled sea bass was well cooked. Staff seemed utterly terrified though!

Warsaw Diner in Derby Road is good for breakfast - about 5-10 minutes walk from Trent's city centre campus

Nottingham Restaurant Awards website will give you an overview. I wouldn't set too much store by the reviews and ratings on Tripadvisor

The Good Food Guide gives good marks to Hart's, World Service and Iberico World Tapas is also mentioned.. and of course, Sat Bains.
