Place to Take Mom for 88th Birthday-Not Too Far From Sylmar

Tuesday is my mom's 88th birthday and I am planning on taking her out to dinner.
I live in Silver Lake and since I'm driving up to Sylmar (where she lives) I don't want
to embark on another mini road trip once I get there.
I was looking at Alessio's menu and it looks very good so, if nothing better is suggested,
that's where we'll go. But, I was thinking that it would be nice to go to a place that offers
really great salads, along with nice entrees.
I'm vegan so, obviously, there would have to be some options for me (which is why I'm
thinking salads...they can always be "vegan-ized").
Thank you all ahead of time.

Alternatives to Alessio might include L'Affair 11024 Sepulveda in Mission Hills or Buon Gusto at 15535 Devonshire, also in Mission Hills.

Two of my mom's favorite places! We had Alessio's (their Sole is delicious!) a couple of weeks ago and she always chooses L'Affair (and gets the escargot with a glass of wine) for her birthday dinner with "the girls". Both very good recs, Carter.

I think we're going to go with Alessio. L'Affair is not up my vegan alley.

I think you will all enjoy it. Make sure you tell them it is a birthday - they will bring you their Tiramisu.
