Crab & Shrimp Boil

I dont know if this is the strangest question ever aked on Chowhound, but I'm pretty sure that it's the strangest question I'VE ever asked here:

Does anyone have any ideas for using a bag of crab & shrimp boil AFTER it has been used for boiling crab & shrimp? Anything: re-use, mulch, potpourri?

It has such good stuff in it; it seems a shame to use it only once.

  1. i actually tried re-using the bag once. did not have good results. i think that a lot of the spices lose their potency after the first use.

i did, however, use zatarain's powder for boiling 40 lbs of shrimp in 10 lb batches. i re-used the liquid, but did add some new powder and fresh cubed lemons for each batch. came out very, very good.

you can also throw the used stuff from the bag under the oleanders - those things thrive on everything!

    1. not so much the bag...but I do use the leftover boil to marinate catfish filets for frying the next day
