Jerusalem Cafe in Manitou Springs, CO?

On my last vacation to Colorado this summer, we ran out of time and didn't get to try all the foodie places that looked good (so easy to do in Colorado).

Anyway, we loved Manitou Springs and Miramount Castle. However, we were only going to eat in Manitou Springs once while we were there, so we ate at the historic hotel instead (A-for atmosphere, and the food was pretty solid).

However, before we left, we stumbled onto the Jerusalem Cafe, having seen some locals walk out there and into the bookstore where we were having a glass of wine. The presentation wasn't much as the food was in styrofoam cartons, but the smell of it looked fantastic with several kinds of hummus on the side, and what appeared to be homemade flat breads. The two women eating were locals and said it was pretty good fare.

Anyone familiar with this place? What's good to eat from there?

  1. Don't know the Manitou Springs one, but I believe the owners are related to the folks who own the Jerusalem Restaurant in Denver, often cited as the city's best Middle Eastern restaurant.

I saw two locals in the Black Cat Bookstore next to the Jerusalem Cafe, and what they had (some sort of stuffed rolls with grape leaves and several varities of hummus and fabulous looking flatbread) looked and smelled so good, I'd plan ANOTHER vacation to Manitou Springs, just for the food!
