Christmas Eve Dinner

budman61 Sep 26, 2010 08:18 AM

Just sent a shout out for Christmas Dinner. Forgot we also eat on Christmas Eve. Any suggestions on places near any of the DC Marriotts? We will be staying in one of them and the restaurant choice would help us decide on which one.

We had Thanksgiving dinner (three course prix fixe) at 701 Restaurant and loved it. Pretty and sophisticated and right at the Metro station. Oh, did I mention we loved the food :)

We had Christmas Eve dinner at Central one year and it was quite nice.

My husband and I like to go out for dinner every Christmas Eve and have found that generally you need to go to a restaurant that is in or affiliated with a hotel; everywhere else is closed. So, high-end places that fit this bill are Citronelle (Lantham Hotel), Cityzen (Mandarin Oriental), Bistro Bis (The George), Bourbon Steak (Four Seasons), etc. However, restaurants like 1789 in Georgetown are famous for their Christmas Eve celebrations. If you're thinking of going there however- call right now! Regulars make their reservations for the following year when they are leaving the restaurant!!!

Filomena's in Georgetown is a good place for holiday dining. They usually have the placed decked out in tacky Christmas decor - you'll feel like you're at Grandmas!

Filomena's? Serious? If you're going to Georgetown I would go to 1789 or Le Chaumiere or Citronelle or....
