Best Steak Tartare and Frites in Paris

I love a great steak tartare and frites. Can you please help me out with some of your favorites in Paris?

  1. It's a recurring question, and you should search it some. Mine would be Chez Denise, with Joséphine a close second (but Joséphine doesn't have fries). What I particularly like at Joséphine is that the meat is tasty -- therefore it does not matter that it is not cut with a knife.

    1. Actually, the place we love for this dish is not a restaurant, but a cafe/nightspot. (Open all day). Cafe du Trésor, in the 4th on rue du Trésor, is a lovely little spot with perfectly wonderful Steack Tartare. The street was renovated by the city a few years ago, it's a dead-end with glorious flower arrangements and is relatively tranquil because the street goes nowhere and there is no car traffic.

P.S. I don't think this dish will normally come with frites, though...

      1. Second Chez Denise. Be forewarned the portion is the size of a Vespa tire, so it is to share.

        1. Meating in the old Jamin space (but who remembers that?)

Old Apicius, dude, not Jamin. Someone remembers.

            2. Balzar makes their Steak Tartare with Limousin beef and the frites are among the best. The dish is prepared at the wait station in the center of the room. As I recall, the price is well under 20 Euros.

Just gave a reason to go back to this place.
