Visiting Stockbridge, MA

Would appreciate some restaurant recs. Visiting Stockbridge in October and would prefer a pretty place for dinner( not too fancy), with a varied menu, nothing too gourmet. Thanks!

How about dining at the Red Lion Inn.

Red Lion has ambiance, but that's about it. Food is bland and uninspired; maybe try it for breakfast.
Agree on most of the other suggestions.

Once Upon a Table (right in Stockbridge) and Chez Nous (5-10 minutes away in Lee) are very good. Check the websites to see if they would be too "gourmet."

If you are more interested in a pretty setting and not so much about the food Cork and Hearth in Lee is quite scenic.

There's a pleasant Spanish restaurant, Viva, just outside the village of Stockbridge, which might suit your requirements.

If you don't mind a short ride over to West Stockbridge, Olio is the new kid in town on Main Street, very good and reasonable Mediterranean. I also like Chez Nous in Lee, the food at Red Lion in is pretty lousy.

Yes, somehow I forgot about West Stockbridge. I second the recommendations on Olio and Viva, and also Rouge is nice as you can either go (semi) upscale in the dining room or more casual at the bar. Red Lion is a good setting but kind of touristy and didn't think the food was that great.

If you're willing to drive to West Stockbridge, then you might be willing to consider Cafe Adam, at the north end of Great Barrington on Route 7, not that far from Stockbridge -- another one of a number of very good bistro-style restaurants in the area, with somewhat brighter and cheery decor than, say, Chez Nous. You can check online for Cafe Adam's menu, as you can with many of the places mentioned in this thread, although one "gourmet" touch I've found hard to resist at Cafe Adam is paying an extra dollar and truffling the fries with my hanger steak and frites!

Need a place for dinner before an 8PM show in Stockbridge on a Tuesday eve. Any place serves this early? Prefer a place with a pretty ambience...also prefer to stay in town...

Then try Once Upon a Table.
