ISO GREAT canneloni - LA

My co-worker has always loved Marino's Restaurant (on Melrose, right near Providence)-- and specifically their canneloni. We just went for her birthday and -- eeks -- they no longer serve canneloni. We work in LA, near a lot of great eating areas (downtown, 3rd St, Hancock Park and adjacent areas, mid Wilshire.... even Los Feliz!) Anyone LOVE any restaurant's cnneloni???? (No Olive Garden or louise's, plese!!) Please help -- she's a beloved co-worker!

Thank you!!!

It's all the way in Culver City, but, in my experience, Sorrento's Italian Market and Deli has great canneloni. They don't have any place to sit down so we're talking take-out, but I love their canneloni. As an aside its one of the few places I have found salt-packed capers, and they have have wonderful Italian specialties. No salt-packed anchovies though.

Vivoli has it. But everytime I go, I always opt for the potato dumplings.

Sad to say that if you want great, really great, canneloni, you have to make it from scratch, in your own kitchen. I have never found a great restaurant canneloni.:(
It is a lot of work. The end result is well worth it. Homemade canneloni is beyond delicious..!
I am looking forward to suggestions for great restaurant canneloni.

REALLY? There is no good canneloni in all of L.A...? I am sure your are right, maudie, that homemade is best and I do love to cook -- but that would be way beyond my talent or patience. Anyone? Any good canneloni in L.A...??

I thought the bite or two I had of my wife's cannelloni at Brunellos Trattoria http://www.chow.com/restaurants/36903... in Culver City was quite good. I believe Brunello's offers it as a Thursday special. Not so many Italian restaurants offer it on their menus these days. You find it most frequently in the old school type places like Peppone in Brentwood.
