Always on the search for more dining options in Schenectady beyond Cella Bistro and More Perreca's (more of a breakfast/lunch place for us since they only serve dinner until 8 pm).

Went back to Cafe Nola yesterday.
Sat upstairs again. Same friendly service. We had the fried green tomato and oyster apps. I had never had fried green tomatoes before so I had nothing to compare it to. The tomatoes tasted a little hard to me. The oysters were okay. I smelled an overpowering fishy smell when they arrived. SO had a beef dish on grits. He said it was salty.
I had the catfish etouffee with dirty rice and a piece of cornbread. It was not hot enough. To be fair, we did not ask for it to be reheated. The cornbread had cranberry and was excellent. The catfish was cooked perfectly. Much better than the chicken etouffee I had last time I was at Cafe Nola.
They are giving out a Cafe Nola Cajun Club card good through 4/30/2011. You scratch off a prize and your table can enjoy one of the Club specials.
Cafe Nola is a good lunch option if you're in Schenectady. Stick with the etouffee. . .

Had a quick lunch at Cafe NOLA. Decor and music reminded me of New Orleans in the daytime. Very nice, friendly people. Had the chicken etouffee with dirty rice. Chicken was thin and a little overcooked. Sauce was very good. Here's to roux and the holy trinity!
Will definitely go back. Brunch looks interesting. Have to try the beignets next . . .
