Mesquite flour in LA?

I'd like to make the chocolate chip cookies from Heidi Swanson's Super Natural Cooking but they call for mesquite flour, which I'm having an impossible time finding. Has anyone else see this? For reference, I've checked the SaMo Co-op, Venice Whole Foods, Surfa's and the Natural Foods Store in the Marina complex where the Counter is located. Thanks in advance!

I was at Erewhon today, and they carry four different brands of mesquite flour. It's around $12 for a 1-lb. box.

Thank you for all the responses! I clearly somehow missed it when I was looking at the Co-op and Whole Foods. I'll check again today. If it's not too off topic, I also want to say what a fantastic cookbook that is. I actually made the chocolate chip cookies once without the mesquite flour and they were still awesome.

I was at the Co-op today and definitely saw mesquite flour. I think it was next to the brazil nut protein powder and above the regular flour. I'm 100% sure they have it.

Whole Foods does carry it - which location did you check? at the Venice store, it's on the bottom shelf below all the gluten-free mixes.

I've bought mesquite flour at Nature Mart in Los Feliz.

                  Hi MollyO!

I hate that, when I search around a bunch of places for an ingredient and no one seems to carry it.

Looks like you can get it online from La Tienda. Don't we have any Spanish markets here in LA? If we do, they may carry it as well.

Oh, and I just had another thought, tho it may be a tad obscure - did you try Penzey's Spices on 5th in SaMo? That might be an option.

                  Good luck!!
