3 Dinners in Tokyo: Sushi Kanesaka, 7 chome Kyoboshi and Keyakizaka

Is this a good plan? Does anyone have other recommendations? We are finding getting a grasp on where to eat in Tokyo harder than any other place that we have been. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!!

  1. Good plan. I have not been to 7 chome Kyoboshi, but I don't know why their price is so much higher than many top end tempura place such as Kondo, their reviews are not particular good on r.tabelog though. The tempura at Kondo (also 2-stars) is top-notch in my experience and is much cheaper than 7 chome.

Tempura is a must-try in Japan because it is completely different from what we have in North America. Given that you only have a few days in Japan, if it is me, I would rather have lunch for tempura and save one night for Kaiseki (either modern such as Ryugin or traditional such as Kikunoi), unless you really love deep-fried stuffs. Lastly, if I remember correctly, Keyakizaka lost its michelin star. Not that it's a big deal, but there are other choices you may want to consider such as the one michelin star Ukai-tei Omotesando, I had a really good Teppanyaki in there.

Ramen !! And a tour of the Tsukiji market, then walk to the outer market. Keep on walking and you will see crowd of people lining up for some food counters. There is one food counter run by a family, which has a big pot full of hot-steaming cooked meaty stuffs, join the line to get a bowl of very good smell cow offal rice bowl.

Have the reuse at Kondo. Beef dinner is the only outlier...

The Concierge at the Park Hyatt suggested we pass on 7 chome and Keyakizaka and try Ukaitei Omotesando, Seryna Shinjuku - Mon Cher Ton Ton section or Omae Xex instead.

I'm a big fan of Omae XEX. Good place, decent value for money. Has not changed a lot since Morimoto left.
