Meeting someone tomorrow night for a drink (and possibly dinner) somewhere between these two locales. He suggested Flemington, NJ, but it seems that there are only chains and the like there. Please help! Would love a place with a wee bit of atmosphere and good food, if possible. We're definitely having a drink first, and things may not make it to dinner, so a bar is a necessity. Any ideas???

I can think of two possibilities meeting your request. I will point out that it has been sometime since I have been to either of these suggestions. With the recession can't say status either, anyway, please check.

On 202 South in Flemington is Jake's, just north of all the car dealers.

And about 4 miles further south is a place more upscale than Jake's is called Harvest Moon, in Ringoes, just off 202 at Old York.

    Good luck moving things along.

Flemington has quite a few good restaurants but they are BYO. Since the primary purpose of your meeting is to have a drink I suggest the following places which all have bar areas.

I agree that the Harvest Moon would be a good choice. It has a tavern in addition to the main dining room and, if I'm not mistaken, it has a separate tavern menu.

Others to consider are the Fox and Hound Tavern in Lebanon, the Tewksbury Inn in Oldwick and Circa in High Bridge. All have bar areas and serve good food. "The Tewks" can be pretty busy on a weekend night so keep that in mind if you go.

      Enjoy your get together!

Ambrose, thanks to you as well - all very very helpful. One of these places will work, I'm sure!
