Reasonably priced dinner near Rockefeller Center

  • 6

Hi Chowhound friends - My friend and I take a workout class near Rockafeller Center and are looking for a reasonably priced, casual dinner locale. I would say around 25 a person with a cocktail would be good. We like sushi but are open to other good, non-touristy places. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

  1. You want to spend $25 per person INCLUDING a cocktail, tax, and tip?

      What gutsofsteel said.

I think your price range is a little unrealistic. Even $25 per person for an entree and a cocktail is going to be hard to do. Cocktails are like $12+ in Manhattan these days. Maybe $10 if it's a happy hour special but I don't know if you'll be able to find that in Midtown near Rockefeller Center.

ETA: oops, didn't realize this was such an old thread! I hope the OP found what he/she was looking for.

    2. i work right there, two best places that barely clock in anywhere near what your talking about are Toloache and Saki Bar Hagi. Do it.

Went to Toloache the other night. It was nowhere near $25 pp with tip - more like 60 (with one drink, shared guacamole, and entree). Had the guacamole trio which was tasty (although the spicy one wasn't all that spicy). Had the paella, which while tasty, wasn't really paella - more seafood over rice. My wife had some pork, which was fine, but not outstanding. The margarita was tasty. Overall good, but not "reasonable". One thing to note, if you check in on 4square, you get buy one get one tradional margaritas. Server was friendly, but seemed a little confused at times, and was missing for parts of the meal.

I'd do the Morrell Wine Bar, they've got happy hour until 8:00 and it's right there at Rockefeller Center

      2. Akdeniz would be a good bet for you, for food, I think: http://www.menupages.com/restaurants/... . It's relatively inexpensive and actually fairly good. Unfortunately I don't know if they have cocktails, but they do have (bad) wines by the glass.

Kyotofu is a slight walk, but also well priced and good. They do have some nicely mixed cocktails.
