Any suggestions about where to buy Thai basil in the Boston area?

  1. you should be able to find thai basil at most asian markets. c-mart in chinatown, ming's supermarket in the south end, and hong kong market in allston to name a few. the smaller se asian markets should have it too

    1. I've picked it up at Market Basket in Chelsea a few times in recent months.

They moved their little SE Asian section to the middle of Produce, and the old section is now a bunch of Broccoli. I find their Thai basil to be a nice bunch but it's at least double the price of the bunches at Russo's. Still, in a pinch, nice to find Thai basil, galangal, birds eye chiles, lemongrass, etc. in one spot at Market Basket!

Thanks - I saw that they moved it last time, after a bit of searching. I have never been to Russo's, so I guess it will have to be next on my list.

As for MB, they have galangal? I hadn't even looked for it - I just recently began to try to cook some different Thai dishes, and had been missing it. I'll be sure to give it a go! Thanks for mentioning it

      2. as always...

Yes...I got some a Russo's a few weeks ago.. I had to ask one of their people to check in the back...but as always they were stocked.

        2. Lotte Market at 297 Mass. Ave. in Cambridge also has it. Looked pretty fresh last time I was there. You get a handful in one of those small plastic-wrapped styrofoam trays.

          1. Idylwilde Farm in Acton always has it.
