restaurant near Carpentras

Hi, my wife and I are staying in Crilllon le Brave, near Carpentras, and I am looking for a reccomendation for a restaurant somewhat near there. I would prefer not to drive longer than about 10 miles after dark. Price is not a major concern, but quality is...ie happy to pay for a great meal but not really looking to add stars to my resume and would be happy local if setting and food are great. I looked into le mas des vignes, which sounded perfect but they are closing before we arrive....any help would be great...Thanks

  1. We own a home in Sablet, about 20 minutes north of Carpentras and spend several months a year there during the course of the year. I have a blog www.sablethouse.blogspot.com where I write about our dining experiences in the area and several would definitely fit your criteria. I have some catching up to do on my blog but some of the highlights from our most recent visit in early September would be L'Oustalet in Gigondas, Brin d'Olivier in Vaison la Romaine, Bistro Preface in Roaix, and Campagne, Vignes et Gourmandise in Ste-Cecile-les-Vignes.

Just returned from France. We had a nice lunch in Carpentras at Chez Serge. Not a tourist in the restaurant. But it is on one of the main streets going through town and parking might be hard to get. We had extraordinary luck to find a parking space on the main street, just 50 meters from the restaurant. Don't know what it's like at night, but lunch was good.
