Post-Marathon Indulgence Reccos

My girlfriend is running the marathon this weekend and when she finishes she likes to go a little nuts with some indulgent food. Last year the run ended at College Park so we went to Caplanskys and had sandwiches and poutine. This year it ends at Nathan Phillips Square...any suggestions for some indulgent options within walking distance? If they serve beer that's a bonus.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Maybe over to Nota Bene for some Wagyu Brisket Burgers with shaved foie gras?

    1. Keep running until you get to Hoof Cafe :P
My friends and I are heading to Beast after the race (good luck!!) which is at King & Bathurst. We aren't doing the full marathon so we don't mind the walk...
How about Grindhouse? You can probably polish off two well deserved burgers :-). I really love their bison burger

I actually thought about grindhouse, but Beast is a good suggestion too.

haha well if you end up going...maybe you'll spot us there! I'm super excited, this is my first race...and I can't think of a better way to end it than wild boar eggs benny

      2. What about the Queen & Beaver? They have a good beer selection (and cocktails!), better-than-average pub grub (although I'd stick with the classics... fish & chips, burger, etc.), and a surprisingly delicious list of "puddings" if she's really gonna go for it (the sticky toffee is classic). They also have comfy couches if she wants to spread out to relax and a patio in case you get a good end-of-summer day.

And congrats to the ladyfriend on the marathoning... that's on my bucket list.

I was just about to suggest that Rabbit! It seems that we are often on the same page. We should eat together sometime!!!

If you are a scotch drinker it is a great place. It is a little too old suit-ish for me and my SO but I've hosted many events there and have always been pleased as have my clients.

Rabbir - Thanks very much. That's a fantastic suggestion, I'll run it by her. Sometimes I think she runs marathons just for the lunch afterwards.

So Grindhouse is closed Sundays. That sucks, other than Queen and Beaver which is where we're leaning any other suggestions? She's basically hell-bent on a burger at this point.

                Beast Burger!! :P
Otherwise...craft burger is the closest one I can think of to that area

                PS Good luck tomorrow!

Beast is a great choice, and the burger comes with some rather addictive tater tots. Earlier review and fuzzy pic here:

actually that post is exactly why I chose Beast :)

I went today - the burger was tasty, but it didn't come out nice and pink like yours! None of them did - wish I asked for it to come that way (but I didn't b/c you mentioned that it came without asking...that's what happens when I ASSume). Tater tots = win though

              2. So where did you end up?
