Bar/Dinner suggestions

Folks,
I'm putting together drinks and/or dinner with some friends after the Yankee game on Saturday and am looking for a bar that has good food. Since we don't really know what time we'll get there, or exactly how many people will show up or how many of those people will actually be eating I figure a bar where we can order food as we go makes the most sense. The group will probably be between 5-15 people at around 9ish. We have one picky eater, so there must be something for a pizza/steak guy. and good beer. Location is less important, but I'm thinking North of 14th and south of Columbia and not too far East.

Should be easy, right? (ha ha) Thanks in advance.

Anything short of astonishingly expensive would probably work.

That helps. I wish someone else would offer a suggestion, though, because I don't really feel confident in helping you with this. Part of the reason for this is that most of the places I'd think of are on the East Side, south of 14th St. That said, since no-one else has stepped up to the plate, here's one possibility for your consideration:

It has a long bar but feels like more of a restaurant to me. Their beer list is also short, but seems decent (I think my girlfriend and I had wine when we went there).

I think in general, a tapas bar would be a great idea, but on a Saturday night, you'd probably have a long wait for seats, especially if your group is toward the larger size.

I'm not sure what else to suggest, though if you ask more specific questions, that might inspire some more thoughts. Good luck and Let's Go Yanks!

I'm thinking your best bet given the potential number of people is a pretty large space; Glass House Tavern near Times Square area may work, though it would mean being near Times Square! It is a large spot that should be able to accommodate that kind of group without a reservation, but at the same time has solid food options.

Alta? If you want more a divey place (and your friends like beer), you can try Pony Bar in Hell's Kitchen. Great beer selection for cheap, and decent food too.
