Looking for a casual place in Malibu after the beach

Me and my girl are heading to Zuma on Friday and looking for something casual to eat after a day at the beach. Nothing fancy or expensive. Something casual I can go to with a pair of jeans on and not come out spending an arm and a leg.

Any type of food is good, maybe a "must have" in the area or a short drive away and please don't say Neptune's Net!!

I am open to anything, but my girl isn't. She's not as adventurous unfortunately.

I second Malibu Seafood, or you could do take out from Tra Di Noi at the Country Mart and eat at the tables there. Or Howdy's for Mexican at the Country Mart

I used to like Malibu Seafood but I think the quality has gone down. Last time I went, Feb or so, the cllam chowder was horrible, so bland, just a ton of potatoes, very little clams. The fried shrimp and fish was very greasy, as if the oil wasn't hot enough.

But even with that said, it is still better than Reel Inn and Neptune's Net.

What about the Paradise Cove Restuarant, right next to Zuma. You should be able to get in on a friday. Not so much for the food, but can't beat the location and brandy alexanders.

Love Malibu Seafood too. But if you want a real find, go to Lily's. It's right by the Bank of America, everyone in Malibu goes for the amazing tacos and burritos! There are tables and chairs outside. Also, How's market by Trancas has killer BBQ tri tip sandwiches!

Chowhound gave the wrong link, although if you find yourself in Costa Mesa, Habana is delicious!

I've been to Cafe Habana a few times in the Malibu lumbertard. Not too pricey as long as you stay away from the Don Julio margaritas :) Foods good, the corn on the cob is INSANE, casual dress fine, the patio is great. Make a rezzie if you are going to be there after 6, otherwise, I've never had a problem getting sat.

For great sandwiches, Malibu Kitchen in the Malibu Country Mart. There are also some new places on the opposite new side of the mart with outdoor seating.
For atmosphere before food, Duke's barefoot bar.

Here is the website for Sunset restaurant http://www.thesunsetrestaurant.com/ and while the interior may be a little nicer than you are looking for the area it's in means casual dress is fine.

There is also a casual place (the Beachcomber) on the Malibu pier. Finally, for something really casual there is Malibu Fish & Seafood Grill.

Go to the Sunset. It's practically right there. The food is great, the views are fantastic, it's casual, and there's something for everyone. Sit in the bar area and have dinner there.

Unless you're wanting to head south toward LA, and want somewhere to stop on the way... then I'd recommend Moonshadows.

                  +2 on Sunset.

If you are heading south, I'd rec the Malibu Seafood shack.
