Each time I eat (or wait to eat) at Anjin, I peer into this restaurant next door called Carnivore Grill. Looks like an interesting place and looks Japanese-run.

When they first opened, they had this "free beer with dinner" special (which might still be running) and now, I've just seen a banner in the front of their establishment which is advertising some kind of crawfish special (I forgot the details of the ad).

Anyway, this place catches my attention each time I'm nearby. Anyone have any experiences here? Opinions?

I've seen this place a lot when waiting for Okie Dokie. I actually had a beer in there once while killing time and talked up the employee. The beer special you mentioned no longer exists b/c they ran into trouble on some law against those type of promotions. The food is supposed to be American grill (IIRC) and I am told the lunch specials are really a steal. He really recommended the grilled salmon and said its the most popular dish.

Must be new, as it doesn't show up in the Yellow Pages or Google. Is this in the shopping center across from the Wahoo's Fish Tacos on the corner of Bristol and Baker? I live and work nearby, but rarely go into that shopping center. I might swing by and check it out soon, as my restaurant rotation has gotten a bit stale, and I'm always looking to try new places.

Thanks for the feedback, all.

Same issue here--running out of lunch ideas. :)

If I happen to swing by there, I'll drop some feedback.

Thanks.

It turns out there was a previous review on Chowhound about this place, back in March of this year. They had it posted on their window. :-)

I was able to check out this place at lunchtime today, and it was excellent at very reasonable prices. The previous reviewer mentioned burgers in his review. In addition, their menu consists of salads, pastas, and lots of meat dishes: steak, chicken, pork chop, rack of lamb, grilled salmon, and a skewer of meat assortments.

My eye gravitated toward the rack of lamb at only $14.95 for the lunch portions, but I decided to start with something more conventional, the seafood pasta. This dish was quite good, if maybe a bit too heavily seasoned. It consisted of linguini pasta, shrimp, clams, scallops, and mussels. I liked the heavy seasoning, which seemed to have quite a bit of pepper in it most noticeably, but it was more seasoning than I've seen in pasta dishes at other places.

This dish, which would normally cost maybe $12-18 at a Cheesecake Factory or a Romano's Macaroni Grill, was only an eye-popping $7.50 for the lunch-sized portions, which I got, while the dinner-sized portion is $8.50. Definitely one of the best value-priced meals I've had in awhile.

Almost every dish here is under $10. Only items over $10 are the steak, at $14.95, the dinner-sized grilled chicken at $10.95 (lunch at only $7.95), and the rack of lamb ($14.95 for lunch, $27.95 for dinner).

For a good meal at reasonable prices, I can definitely recommend the Carnivore Grill. While I enjoyed the seafood pasta immensely and would recommend it to anyone, I will be exploring different items on the menu the next time I visit. :-)

I have eaten there a few times but not recently.
I usually get the burger at lunchtime. Nice meat, and nice fries as well.
Others have had the Salmon and really like it although i think the chicken was a let down. That crawfish sign has been up for a few weeks now. Will go again unless it closes as it was usually very quiet at lunchtime.

Looks like the Carnivore Grill is closed up. I had a bad experience the last time I went, where I sat down at a table for around 10 minutes without anyone coming to give me a menu or ask if I wanted a drink.

It started out pretty good with a nice-looking menu, but I think it died a slow downhill death.
