Anyone been to Apizz lately?

I have a reservation at the Hearth on Friday and I know stumbled upon Apizz and the reviews have been really really good. Has anyone been there recently? Also, how is the neighborhood? Coming in from NJ.

Went there a month ago. Food was ok but not great, definitely had more delicious at other Italian eateries but low key atmosphere is homey, cozy and without pretense.

Good to know. Would you happen to have a suggestion for a better choice? I'm looking for a place with great recognizable food. I wouldn't say we are adventurous eaters but willing to step slightly outside the box.

Just had a fantastic meal at Little Giant in the same hood. The food was spot on and outside the normal American fare. There is a great Mezcal bar across the street as well. If you go get the dates stuffed with blue cheese and wrapped in bacon. Also the steak and jalapeno biscuit was incredible

You will need to only walk 1-2 blocks north and be surrounded by a ton of bars and night spots. Great hood for drinking before or after dinner. I have not been to Apizz in the last few months as I find it more to my liking in the winter than the summer. The huge open kitchen and bring oven stove ate just a great back drop on a cold winter night.
The food is always wonderful and the atmosphere is romantic if thats what you are looking for.
