Coffee in the theatre district

I need to catch up with some out-of -town people in their late 60s/ early 70s after their matinee show today around 43rd and 8th. I am looking for suggestion for a spot for coffee and conversation around that area. I would have picked a place like Bouchon, but that's a fair distance up. I'd prefer spots within 5-6 blocks.
My backup is one of the Starbucks in the area. Any recommendations for which one makes better coffee/ is more spacious?
Thanks,
Sid

This may not help the OP, but for future reference; if one is looking for a cozy atmosphere where one can catch up, a nice spot is the Coffee Pot, I think 9th ave/49th. The coffee itself is nothing to write home about, but it is a nice nook and usually not too crowded; a nice alternative to Starbucks. Further west (10th/47th), Bisco Latte is smaller but has Illy coffee, espresso, etc in addition to their biscotti.

The Little Pie Company on 43rd Street just west of Ninth Avenue is a quiet, civilized place for coffee. And their desserts ain't too bad, either.

You could go to Le Pain Quotidien or the 'wichcraft kiosks in Bryant Park as well.

Thanks kathryn; that helps. I had forgotten to consider them.
