New African In Austin: Cazamance Brings Senegalese Food to Town

Any pregnant ladies on the board?

Here's a quote from the owner of Cazamance:

We always like to include a dish that's especially good for expecting mamas!

I ran into a friend of mine downtown last night and he had just eaten at Cazamance. He was excited about their food which is unusual for him outside of NOLA related food talk.

More info:

Looks like they're serving plenty lamb which is always a magnet for me.

Plus young coconuts the juice of which is one of the only things that allows me to survive Austin summers.

Who's been to Cazamance?

Last weekend I ate some pig butt. That's what it was called on the menu. It was fantastic. Would've tried some other dishes but the thunderstorm blew in.

It's right next to G'Raj Majhal if you know where that is off of Rainey St.

Amazing decor? Isn't it a food trailer?

Yes it's a food trailer but they have this amazing outdoor seating area set up infront of it with picnic style tables and lights hanging above. It's the fanciest trailer I've ever seen!

There's a brief write-up today's Statesman. You can find more info here: http://www.facebook.com/Cazamance

I'm no expert in Senegalese food, but turkey bacon vinaigrette?

Warm Spinach salad with sunflower seeds, feta cheese, and a turkey bacon viniagrette.
