Philly Mag top restaurants?

Does anyone know: Is Philadelphia Magazine doing a top restaurants list this year?

        I highly doubt it b/c they from what I know, have only done 2 lists thus far, and there was a gap of time between the 2 lists

          They planned to do it every 18 months, but the food editor left about six months ago (not to mention the editor in chief), so who knows whether they'll do it again on the same schedule.

          WOW - Blackfish #1 - quite a coup for the suburbs! Of course, now us suburbanites will NEVER get a table!

              No fear, our Sunday Jan 30th Blackfish chowdown reservation is for 20 people, and only 16 have signed up so far, so there is still space if you are interested!

                Would love to go but January is my busiest month workwise so by January 30th I will either be
                [a] scrambling to get last minute things done
                or
                [b] in a vegatative state on my couch, in my pj's, eating pizza and drinking a nice Old Vines Zin!

                Have fun though!

              Also cool to see that Pierre Calmels and Bibou have finally made the list (at #3). I guess Robert Parker recently calling Bibou "...the best French bistro in the entire country" may have awoken Philly Mag to what they have been missing.

                Or maybe the last time they did this list, Bibou didn't exist.

                  I believe the last list was in 2009 and Bibou opened May 2009, so you are probably right.

                  Although I prefer to think Chowhounds discovered Blackfish and Bibou first!

                  As far as reservations, other than Talula's Table, is there any restaurant in Philly that is harder to get a reservation for than Bibou? Great food and at most 35 seats will do that to you.

                    If you're fairly local to Bibou and flexible for dinner, you can follow Bibou on twitter (http://twitter.com/biboubyob), Charlotte tweets availability when people cancel their reservations.

                      I cannot understand why people would find the food at Blackfish anything short of superb. I have been there around 200 times and I would not go anywhere twice that didn't have excellent food by any criteria.
                      They did have a server once who was a bit difficult, but that's way back.
                      BTW, I love Bibou and know the chef and his wife. Nevertheless, Blackfish is really leading the way in the Phila. region. Glad to go to Bibou any day. It really isn't quite the same type of cuisine, however, so it's difficlut to compare exactly.

            3. Can't believe that Blackfish beat out Bibou. Went to Blackfish some years ago and was underwhelmed particularly with the service and atmosphere. They must have improved. Bibou is close to perfection in a dining experience imho.

                Wow! I totally agree. I worked in Conshy a few years back, and had multiple terrible experiences at Blackfish. They must have improved dramatically! I may even break my vow never to return to experience it in person.

                  I agree as well. We've eaten at Blackfish several times, one a couple of weeks ago (when Pierre Calmels was cooking there!) and that was the best meal we ever had there. Other than that time, we've thought the food was good but not exceptional. I would have rated Bibou number 1!

                Interesting, Le Bec Fin didn't make it this time.

                I've lived here since August, and only been to 6 so far. Lots of work to do...

                  Amazing that Radice is on this list - not deserving based on my experiences and others on the board.

                  And my favorite sushi, Bluefin, is off.

                    Well, Le Bec is in the Hall of Fame by itself, but you have to look for it.
                    As for Bluefin, yes it indeed belongs here. There are other omissions as well, but overall not a bad list.

                      The inclusion of Radice confirms my belief that making the list might have as much to do with relationships as with food. Of course I am open to the thought that my tastes are not as good as "those who know" and/or my visits have been on off nights. It is pleasing to see that many of the selections on "the lists" are confirmed by our fellows here at CH.
