Parkway Grill in Pasadena.....
How is Parkway Grill in Pasadena these days?
We haven't been for years, is it as good as it used to be...?

I was there for Father's Day. My first visit. I thought it was good for what it was -- a steakhouse. The mac & cheese side dish, in particular, was excellent.

Steakhouse? Interesting, given that they have only 2 steak choices on their menu (filet and NY). Which steak did you have?

I still like The Parkway Grill. It an old stand-by, and it's pretty, gracious, classy, and has good food. NOT what i'd call a value, though. Last time we went, they charged us for what we thought was the free bread on the table! Maybe it's just my misty water-colored mem'ries, but I still like it!

Yeah, they really charged us for the bread! We were furious and my colleague went to the ladies' room and took a handful of tampons (which they 'gave" for free) just to show them! (Sorry to be crude but it cracked me up. And she didn't need them -- over 50!) But I still have a soft spot for the Parkway Grill...!

Agree totally - one of the funniest responses, ever, on this board after reading how many of them!
But the Parkway has morphed into being a prettier version of the Arroyo Chop House next door. But the menus are getting closer and closer to one another. Quality good to very good, though, but hardly cutting edge as Parkway used to be.-----

Too many other options that are more interesting and at better price points in that area.
Haven't been back in about 1.5 years (if I recall correctly). My last visit was fine, food was good but not great, service was professional. No complaints, but then not exactly memorable.

I have not been to Julienne for a while now, and since I've lost my box at the Bowl, have had no reason to go there for a basket, which was one of it's main selling points for me.
Raymond is under new ownership, with a new chef. You should check it out. http://pasadenanow.com/main/the-raymo...
Malbec: I like the skirt steak and all of their pastas that I've tried are fantastic, esp. the potato dumplings. Stick to your bones kind of food.
Elements Kitchen: I like their breakfast pot pie during brunch, and their risotto and lobster cakes were good at dinner as well.

I still love Julienne's. As long as they keep making the lamb sandwich, they will have my vote. I think it has dropped about 1/2 a notch over the decade+ I have been going, though I do not get there nearly as often as I would like. If I am in downtown or near Pasadena with a free lunch hour, I will always think of Julienne's first.
