Best Sushi? Best Foodie Pub?
Coming from Minneapolis for a 5 day trip to Seattle. We're both into food and great ambiance- spending first 2 days on Whidbey Island at The Inn at Langley, last three downtown Seattle. Would love some recommendations for great sushi and fun, dark pubs.

I’ll leave it to others to recommend a “foodie pub” that is also both “fun” and “dark.” On the subject of sushi, there are loads of previous threads on the Greater Seattle Board. See, for example, http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/702915?tag=boards;topic-702915, which has links to a couple of other previous threads. Another option is the newly opened Sushi Kappo Tamura for a combination of cooked dishes and sushi, in a lovely space, but with very big price tag – as expensive, if not more so, than Shiro. For a thread on Sushi Kappo Tamura see http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/7029....

Seattle has a nascent gastropub movement. Quinn's is my personal favorite, it is both dark and has good food. It's capitol hill neighbor Smith also fits the bill, is slightly more restauranty / less bar-y. Quinn's would be a longish walk from downtown, but a nice one, Smith would be really long.
Closer to downtown- Spur in Belltown has higher end food, but to my mind a little noisy and crowded, at least on weekends. Also in Belltown, Black Bottle is even noisier, but the food is a little cheaper and still very good.
