What to serve with Chicken Marbella???

This will be my first time to make this dish and I am wondering what you all serve with it ? Just got the new 25th Anniversary Silver Palate and realized this is one of the few recipes I have never tried. My old book is so worn I really needed a new one.

  1. I make this recipe for entertaining sometimes and serve with Near East Wild Rice Pilaf. Store-bought, I know but IMHO, it's so good, easy, and absorbs all the tasty juices.

        I've served it with a cous cous that has dry sherry, orange juice, currants, carrots, green onions, cinnamon and paprika plus a couple of other things I can't remember. People always seemed to love it, and the mixture goes well with the chicken marbella.

      2. I'd suggest basmati rice with some lentils and peas in it. That way if you have guests that don't eat meat, or might prefer an alternative meal selection, you rice can stand alone as a dish as well.

          1. I make this a lot and always serve it with Potatoes Dauphinois and green beans sauteed in garlic. They both go with the dish beautifully. The string beans are a nice counterpoint to the richness of both dishes and the potatoes work well because they are a different kind of richness from the chicken and the wonderful sauce from the chicken mixes well in taste with the potatoes. It makes a really elegant, attractive plating.

            These potatoes are a version from Patricia Wells, they are very easy and incredibly good.

            Gratin Dauphinois

            1 garlic clove, halved
            2 pds. potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
            4 oz. gruyere cheese grated
            2 cups milk
            1/2 cup cream
            salt and pepper

            preheat to 375

            rub inside of baking dish with garlic

            combine potatoes, 3/4 of cheese, milk cream, salt and pepper. Mix well. Spoon into baking dish, pouring liquid over potatoes. Cover with remaining cheese.

            Place in oven and bake about 1 hr. 15 minutes
