Fall 2010 wild mushroom season opener

Chanterelle buttons are popping up on the north coast. These got a big boost from all the foggy weather we had all summer. I pulled out about a pound and left even more to grow from last night's rain.

In late August there was an unusually early flush of shrimp russulas and candy caps.

Fat half pound chanterelle. At least 2 months old but no rotten parts.

Golden Chanterelles hitting hard now. Several pounds in the basket without undue effort. Time to make risotto again!

You found candy caps? Wow, that is cool.

I'd like to forage for shrimps too, but don't feel comfortable picking those...yet!
