L.A. County Fair
Going to the fair this week, and would like someplace nice in the area to go for dinner. All suggestions welcomed.
Yeah, you are talking about the next day, right?
Anyway, that's not exactly a culinary mecca, the Pomona area. Seems to me there is a newish place I read about on 2nd, a block or two west of Garey, that looked pretty good, but we haven't gotten out that way in a long time.
I'm not sure where you are coming from, but it's true that there's not a lot of exciting food in that area. However, you might find something that would work in this thread - http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/7058...
Note that not all of these places are necessarily close to the Fair and depending on day of the week/time of day you will probably need to account for traffic.
I highly recommend Thai Orchid Garden. It's not fancy, it's in a little strip mall, but it is my absolute favorite Thai place. Must have items are the basil eggplant, pad thai (seriously, with a squeeze of lemon it is euphoric), green curry, mee grob, mango with sticky rice, fried banana with the lightest, most delicious coconut ice cream ever, and of course the Thai iced tea.

Cocopalm is about five minutes away from the fair - always good with a great view and the Sunday Brunch is great with live music - they have a website
