Trying to Find a Boiled Shrimp Po Boy. Hound SOS!

  • 8

Does anyone know of a place serving a boiled shrimp po boy?

Due to a wicked dietary restriction, I cannot have much/any fat :O. I am hoping to find a boiled answer to fill the void of the banished fried shrimp po boy.

I appreciate your help!

  1. Franky and Johnnies does boiled shrimp pretty often, they may be able to help you out.

    1. Hmm, the closest thing I can think of is the fried-green-tomatoes-topped by shrimp remoulade poboy at Crabby Jack's. I'm sure they'd be happy to lose the tomatoes & give you just shrimp remoulade on bread. Problem is, shrimp remoulade probably has more fat (in the remoulade sauce) than the fried shrimp!

      1. The frying part is the hard part. You could make one at home super easy.

Recipe is easy to find. Just Google boiled shrimp po boy.

I believe Mahoney's, Johnny's or Parkway would make anyone a boiled shrimp po boy if you place an order ahead of time.

        2. I agree, I'd buy the shrimp boiled and make it myself. Chris Donuts on Bullard in eastern N.O. is a Vietnamese owned bakery sandwich shop (french pastry as well) and they have fried and non fried seafood po boys.

Liuzza's by the Track has a bbq shrimp po boy I guess you might be able to have it made without oil etc not sure about that.
