The Hide, Bermondsey, London

limster Sep 19, 2010 10:46 AM

A dry burger, nice beef, but weird to have chopped peppers mixed into the patty. Bun is almost fluorescent in its freshness, cushiony in texture.

The list of drinks looks impressive, especially the spirits. Any first hand experiences of their sazerac cocktail?

I went there on Friday and had the Sazerac. I suppose it depends on your palate+how much you like absinthe, but to me it just tasted of absinthe that was sweetened and toned down.

To me, absinthe is like amaretto in a cocktail-the taste tends to be overpowering. However, if you're an absinthe lover/afficiando then it's worth a go.

Thanks! Will probably request a version with bitters.

Went last night and tried Chilli and Raspberry Vodka martini - worked well and well made.
Followed by a dirty Martini - again attention to detail very good - they pay attention to
temperature and had interesting fresh ingredients.
Not cheap and kitchen was closed at 10pm but relaxed and friendly.

no, but I've had many of their others, and I don't see why their sazerac would be anything less than excellent.

Agreed. They have an deft hand with their cocktails. Their old fashioned is quite tasty.

Tried it for the same reason I try many places -- little current information about the food, and I wanted first hand info (besides had already tried all the other places on Bermondsey St).
