Parkside...any recent reviews???
Have been enjoying Parkside in Harleysville for the past 4 months or so....Have been 4 or 5 times and always totally impressed with everything (except the atmosphere)...until tonite....
Just seemed totally "off" tonite...so much so that we are wondering if the chef was not there for some reason....Just curious if anyone else has had similar experience at Parkside????

Wow! That is not good to hear. We have really enjoyed our experiences at Parkside. I am curious to hear any additional remarks about this. We are planning a fall dinner there for 20 people.

went last nite...around 5:30...no reservation but wasn't full...tho said they couldn't seat us upstairs on deck...sat inside..
placed order and must have waited aver 30 minutes for apps to arrive and no one came in all that time with additional bread or to check on us...
apps of chicken quesidilla and beet salad were fine...but we no sooner put our fork down from the app than dinner was on the table...timing was way off....
brick chicken was not good...rice barely warm....chicken pretty dry and lacking flavor...hummous platter was not great...get this often and each time the chips (homemade) come out darker and darker (almost to the point of burnt) and hummous was just ok...kind of watery...
must say when we mentioned...things weren't great..they did take chicken off the bill....
as i said..just would have been curious to know if the chef was in last nite or if there was someone filling in....we did notice everyone seemed to be waiting....and a table next to us was served and a woman sent something back and i heard her say it needed to be done more....we left 15 minutes later and it still had not been returned to her....
again...hope it was just a fluke...but got a bad feeling!-

Was planning to head there in the next week, but think I'll wait until a few more reviews come in from recent visits. Perhaps Abe is on vacation. Hope it's just something like that. Was looking forward to the Chicken Pot Pies coming back for the Fall. Please keep us posted Harleysville area chowhounds

re: ilovesummer
We have eaten there 4 times over the past couple of months. I must say that I have felt queasy 3 of those times while and after dining there. My stomach is usually not that sensitive, but something there does not agree with me. Interestingly enough, I have ordered something different every time I have gone.
It is a nice addition to the area, but I am not sure I will be returning.

re: GL Foodie
Interestingly I have had an experience similar to those expressing dissatisfaction with recent visits. I have most certainly noticed a decline in my enjoyment of the items selected. There was a considerable investment made in Parkside, it is a nice place, well except for the triangles, no art and the starkness of the dinning room. If the kitchen staff has not changed it has become either bored or careless. On a visit a couple of week ago there was loud music, loud coughing and sneezing coming from the kitchen, Ugh! Not the norm I am sure. Hope they get back on track.

Yes - the square diamonds were put in to absorb some of the noise when several people (including us) mentioned about all of the hard surfaces causing an increased sound level in the dining rooms :). BTW - just noticed in the Courier News Weekly I received this week that Parkside has an ad that mentions Chef Lopez, so he must still be there.
