Many people praise Byrani on 26th and 3rd.

Thanks so much Prince! Have you ever heard of Bamiyan (Third Avenue at 26th?)?

That was the one I meant. Sorry

I love Bamiyan. The handmade noodles are to die for. As are the fried dumplings. Definitely give this spot a try.

      2. I have not been in the neighborhood for a few years but a short walk from times square in the area between 8th and 9th Avenue in the 50's there are several Afghan restaurants "Afghan Kabob House" on 9th Ave between 50/51st on east side of the street was a frequent Friday night dinner spot for me - then there was Kabul higher up off 9th ave in the mid 50's - best lamb shank ever as per my hubby.

        1. As I posted in response to your other thread, Ariana, 9th Av. between 52nd and 53rd. It's a lot more walkable than Bamiyan, though both are good in different ways.

          1. Thanks so much for the great advice about an Afghan restaurant in NYC. I haven't had authentic Afghan food since I was in DC years ago. Looking forward to trying your suggestions!
