    1. Wine and Liquor Depot in Van Nuys

      Mission Liquors in Pasadena

Most BevMos will have a bottle or two as well.

For all of these, you should call first as they don't always have all Pappy expressions in stock.

You're in for a treat, but a Pappy is going to cost you a lot more than a Knob Creek. Unless you're willing to shell out, you may want to start with Old Rip Van Winkle 10 year old 107 proof.

I heard the 15 year wasn't too bad, like $40ish. I'll save the 20 year for my Christmas list : )

            1. re: weegeebee

the 15 year will cost much more than that.
Red Carpet in Glendale regularly carries pappy as well.

i'm getting thirsty and its just barely lunch time : )

what's the going price on the 15 year?

      2. In addition to the places mentioned in other posts, K&L also often carries it, though some of the other places mentioned will probably have a wider selection and are closer to the areas you mention.

        1. although out of your sweet spot, beverage warehouse in MDR carries it.

Have you seen it recently, Wil? Not on their online http://www.beveragewarehouse.com/ bourbon list.

haven't been by in about 7mo's, but i saw 2 bottles there on my last visit. i bought one of them. lols.

the good thing about bev warehouse is that you can call them to verify and if they do not have the item in stock they will order some (if they can).

Curiosity got the better of me and I spoke to one of the inventory mavens at Beverage Warehouse and he said that what he has in stock is the 23 year old for $219 or the one in the "fancy" decanter for $350. I guess the younger, less expensive stuff is harder to find and harder to keep in stock.

          2. I hesitate to mention this because I have yet to make a reservation, but Wine house is having a bourbon tasting on Nov 16

(is wine house not in the database? It's right next to the 405 on 2311 Cotner)

for what it's worth I did a big price comparison on a bunch of spirits a couple months back, Wine House came out significantly cheaper overall with Beverage Warehouse second and Wally's third. Didn't do Bevmo but my experience is that it's actually higher than the first two. Generally if I'm looking for a specific booze, I'll do Wine House first, if Im looking for a wide selection of obscure ones, I'll hit Beverage Warehouse.

That said, I was at Wine House a couple of weeks back and fairly positive they had the expensive Pappy but don't remember seeing the cheaper ones. Of course calling ahead would solve the question.
