Locanda Vini e Olii is pretty special. A former old time Pharmacy on a residential street in Clinton Hill serving excellent Tuscan food. No longer new but certainly distinctive. Also at a higher price point, The River Café is as special occasion place in Brooklyn as you can get. Super views, especially if you can reserve a window seat, and great service and very good food.

Applewood in Park Slope is the best place I've eaten in the borough since I moved here a year ago. It's a nice, cozy restaurant that my wife and I went to for our anniversary. But it's not super upscale or fine dining, if that's what you're looking for. Some info that would help: cuisine, price range, atmosphere, neighborhoods. Good luck!
