Suggestions for an anniversary dinner in Brooklyn

Muktabai Sep 17, 2010 10:38 AM

Our sixth anniversary is coming up and I'd love to make a reservation somewhere new and special. The last meal I really loved in Brooklyn was a Grocery.

Applewood in Park Slope is the best place I've eaten in the borough since I moved here a year ago. It's a nice, cozy restaurant that my wife and I went to for our anniversary. But it's not super upscale or fine dining, if that's what you're looking for. Some info that would help: cuisine, price range, atmosphere, neighborhoods. Good luck!

      Dressler (Williamsburg)
      Saul (Cobble Hill)
      Breukelen (Cobble Hill)
      The Good Fork (Red Hook)
      Al di La (Park Slope)
Traif (Williamsburg) - less formal, but phenomenal food
      Marlow and Sons (Williamsburg)

Hear Stone Park is good, but have never been.

I would add Convivium Osteria (Park Slope). Not new, but definitely special.

Locanda Vini e Olii is pretty special. A former old time Pharmacy on a residential street in Clinton Hill serving excellent Tuscan food. No longer new but certainly distinctive. Also at a higher price point, The River Café is as special occasion place in Brooklyn as you can get. Super views, especially if you can reserve a window seat, and great service and very good food.
