Best French bistro steak frites in SF?

I'm looking for a place in SF to have steak frites now that Jeanty's is no longer in the city. I see lots of skirt steak and hangar steak on menus, but I want a nicer cut, preferably a ribeye or NY strip or something like that. I'm not really wanting to go to an American steakhouse, but a French bistro kind of place.

Any suggestions?

  1. Jeanty was my go-to place, too.

Chez Papa Resto, Fringale, South Park Cafe, and Cafe de la Presse seem likely substitutes to me.

Corrected: I was confusing Chez Papa Resto with 54 Mint.

    Fringale Restaurant
    570 4th Street, San Francisco, CA 94107

    South Park Cafe
108 South Park, San Francisco, CA 94107

JEANTYYYYYY!! why? why? why? .... sorry.

Southpark Cafe does a pretty good steak frites:

And Restaurant Ducroix, but I think they are still only open for lunch:

690 Sacramento St, San Francisco, CA

    2. Chez Papa Resto

      Chez Papa Resto
4 Mint Plaza, San Francisco, CA 94103

      1. Didn't have the steak frites, but Des Amis is also a possibility. I did like the fries there.

        1. The steak frites at Alamo Square cafe are highly underrated and quite delicious, although it's probably not one of the higher cuts of steak

          Alamo Square Cafe
711 Fillmore St, San Francisco, CA 94117

          1. There have been discussions on this topic here before. You might want to do a search to find the past threads.

Florio (on Fillmore St.) is worth trying. They serve a rib-eye & frites for two and a hangar steak & frites for one.
