Picata, Veal, STP

Was reading another thread about places near The Xcel. Many Italian restaurants bantered aboua memory came back to me of a veal dish I once had in the Jewish section of Rome. I remember it having really good 'peas' in it. It is just now, because of recent learning, those 'peas' were mostly likely capers.

Is there a place in STP that serves up a piquant veal [will settle for chicken] picata ala Romna? Please lists prices if you know them.

THANKS!!!!

Have you tried Ristaurante Luci or Cafe Biaggio? I know I've seen it somewhere recently!

Carmelo's on Grand and Snelling has Veal Piccata!!! I've had their chicken piccata and liked it a lot.

I love Carmelo's, but it's on Snelling at the corner of St. Clair, not Grand. The piccata is delicious.

Do you guys have a feel for the cost? I really need to take that into consideration; the craving vs the cost.

            I really appreciate everyone's input.

Carmelo's is really reasonable. I'm thinking $16 for veal piccata--less for chicken. Includes bread and salad.

I am sorry, no. I am unemployed and rarely eat out. (When I do, I hit La Cabana as I can eat 2 days off their stuff.)

Amore Victoria has it, per it's online menu.

I Nonni has veal saltimbocca, so you might call and see if piccata is ever on the menu.

I can't think of anyone that has it on their menu, though I associate veal piccata with the springtime, given the lemon and brightness of the dish, so you might have more luck finding it on spring menus.

In general, there are few restaurants that serve veal in the Twin Cities, as compared with the east coast, where almost all "italian" restaurants have several veal dishes.

This might be a stab in the dark, but of all the restaurants in the area that are likely to make it, Osteria I Nonni in Lilydale might be a good bet. It's not on their current menu, but you might try calling them and asking the chef if he'd be willing to make it for you. Given the dish, they'll have all ingredients on hand anyway. It might be a bit pricey, but it's also likely to be the best version of the dish you'll get in the Twin Cities. It might be worth a shot!
