Is Casamentos open yet for the season?

I drove past Casamentos last night thinking that it was opened back up for the season, but it looked closed. The sign on the window said it was going to open on 9/14/2010, but I have yet to see it open.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the info; I knew I could get some updates on here. I only live a couple of blocks away so I will keep a close eye on when they are open & let people know.

I need my Casamentos fix bad, and have been waiting all summer!!!!

It was open for lunch on the 14th. I walked by and saw people inside eating.

Called and got them to answer (you have to be VERY persistent). They are open till 9 tonight.

Their schedule is a little non-traditional: I think it's dinner Thursday through Saturday, and lunch Tuesday through Friday (maybe Saturday?). So they wouldn't have been open for dinner last night.

I heard the 14th too...but given the oyster issues I guess we gotta cut some slack. I was told by a restaurant friend that could get oysters but he was not certain of the sources..his regular suppliers are not providing anything in the shell right now. The western beds are, I hear, open and of course they could bring them in from Alabama from what I hear. But I need to call a couple of oystermen pals and get the scoop.

They might have this problem at a few restaurants.

After we tried Casamentos we headed down to Mahoney’s for a po-boy and there jumbo shrimp and oyster po-boys are now listed a market price. I do not recall the prices but I think they went up 4 or 5 bucks.

I still went w/ the grilled shrimp & green tomato remoulade & it was great as usual.

My brother works at Luke & said they are getting PJ’s oysters there.

I guess it’s just a difficult time for all. I am hopeful things just get back to normal.

Wow--is P&J's still open? I had thought they closed down.

                  Midcity,

I have no update on if P&J is closed, but I talked with my brother on the way to work, and told him I wanted to come in for some oyster at happy hour. He told me they are not getting P&J’s oysters and the oysters are coming from Fla.

I will be going to Casamentos this weekend and will give an update.

Luke told me they buy thru P&J but they are procured from elsewhere.

As I understand it, P&J stopped shucking and laid off most of the staff. They continue to supply oysters, however.
