I live in Burbank and I want to meet a friend today for lunch who lives in Santa Barbara. We want to find some place half way. Any recommendations? Please advise asap.

  1. I just did that drive last weekend. We stopped at Brent's Deli in Westlake Village. Good menu of Jewish deli standards.

    1. Santa Barbara is approximately 90 miles from Los Angeles. Half way would be about Ventura. I would highly recommend Tutti's Off Main. GREAT patio, excellent food and a good bar and wine list. Excellent and helpful service. Who could ask for anything more. By the way, if it's brunch and you like eggs Benedict this is a good place to splurge on the waistline and order them. That and some Champagne and life is good.

      1. As the 101 runs, the exact halfway point between LA and SB is the Conejo Grade, which is a little thin on the dining front ;)

If you're willing to go as far as Ventura, my recommendation is Jonathan's at Peirano's for its Mediterranean menu, or the adjacent J.'s Tapas.

Max? Ventura would be what, another 20 to 25 miles at the most?

          1. re: Hughlipton

The point I was trying to make: LA and SB are close enough that you can be very flexible as to how close to exactly "halfway" you want to make it.

LA to SB = 95 miles
Downtown LA to Calabasas = 29 miles
Ventura to SB = 30 miles

So anywhere between Calabasas and Ventura and close to the 101 should be fair game.

Most likely a lot of good places to be found in Westlake Village.

        2. Probably too late now but, for the future the cafe at the Camarillo Airport is really terrific. Camarillo is not a bad 1/2 spot to think about. There's the outlet mall, chain restaurants like Wood Ranch and Souplanation, and a couple of non-chain eateries. Camarillo Airport cafe is a fun place as well. Sit outside and watch the small planes come/go, helicopters land or view the training course used by the police dept. Omelets are great as well as burgers, salads and sammys. I also like Peking Inn for their seafood soup however, they have the typical chinese lunch specials. There's also a new place supposed to open soon called Bariloche. In the same complex as Peking Inn. For really casual, I also like Snapper Jack's Taco Shack, in a shopping center off Santa Rosa Rd. :) KQ
