A real chow challenge: restaurant between Voorhees and Wilmington?

I've got out-of-town friends staying in Voorhees this week, and we live in Wilmington. We want to get together for dinner on Friday--we can meet in Philly if need be, but I have to wonder if there's anything vaguely in between our two towns (and I'm doubting it!)

Requirements--mid-priced, baby-friendly, available for 4 people (plus infant) onFriday night. Any cuisine will do, preferably something internationally oriented. Good food a must!

Otherwise, I'm thinking something like Divan in Philly (I love Turkish food). My friend has also suggested Indian, so high-quality reco's in this cuisine would be welcome.

  1. Ritz Seafood, perhaps?

Went there once and enjoyed it & have been meaning to go back now that I live closer. BYOB, emphasis on Asian-influenced seafood but other options available as well. Smallish but should have no problem with babies/larger parties if you go earlier in the evening.

There is an excellent Thai restaurant not that far from the Ritz theaters, but I can't remember the name. Excellent food, would certainly be child friendly in the early evening. Can anyone come up with tne name? Oh, I guess both of these suggestions are near Vorhees, and not near Wilmington at all.

Bangkok City is very nearby and Somsak is relatively close as well. I prefer Bangkok
        city.

Thanks--anything between the two towns, though? All of the suggestions thus far are right in Voorhees (not convenient for the half of our group that will start in Wilmington!)

My geography is still kind of shaky since I just moved to Gloucester County this summer, and this isn't really the ethnicity you're looking for, but DiPaolo's serves up some excellent Italian in Penns Grove which isn't too far from Wilmington. I wrote my review of the place here:

It's on the pricey side, or seemingly so but the portions are seriously "family style"--as in enough for 2-3 meals, easily. Yet for once out here in South Jersey the quality doesn't suffer for the quantity.

In Mullica Hill there's a very decent Japanese/Chinese place, Mandarin Oriental. Sushi wasn't quite Center City standards but the cooked dishes I've tasted were all excellent.

Wow, I don't in Bucks County but I want to go to the restaurant because its my last name!

    2. I haven't been there in a few years, but the Swedes Inn in Swedesboro would probably fit the bill. We had brunch there, and it was really nice. http://www.swedesinn.com/cafe_new.html
I would say that would be about halfway, though closer to Wilmington than Voorhees.

Yeah, the Swedes Inn is probably your place...that is a tough area (Voorhees-Wilmington).

OK, we're booked at Swede's Inn. I wish the food looked more interesting, but I'm sure it'll be fine. This dinner's about catching up with friends from far away, not so much about cuisine, so it'll be OK. Thanks to mschow and JCap for the suggestion!

I wish there were more in that area, but there just isn't. The only place I have been with any degree of regularity is a place called Rode;s in Swedesboro, a very casual place with good food. There are some plant nurseries in that area that I frequent with friends, so that's the place we usually eat. There is also The River View Inn, with a nice view of the Delaware River in Pennview. I only went there once, but it was well over 10 years ago. Good luck and hope the food is fine.

      2. Wilmingon and Voorhess are NOT that far apart (maybe 45 unless you need to go deep into Vorrhess the police are not very speeder friendly :( yeah I know this ffirst hand) Go to NJ. It will do ya good to get out of Delaware and the food is generally better in NJ IMO. Ritz Seafood sounds like a lovely choice and would be within a 45 min drive from most if not all of Wilmington (I did the east side of CH near the Voorhees boarder and Wilmington trip more times than i can count!)
